Sudah berapa lama sih om Dicky mengoleksi LEGO?
(How long have you been collecting LEGO, dear sir?)
Koleksi LEGO sejak 1995, jadi sdh 26 tahun.
I have been collecting LEGO since 1995, so it has been 26 years.

Kenapa om sampai bisa suka dengan LEGO? Ada ceritanya kah?
(Why do you like LEGO? Any story of it?)
Saya sejak kecil suka bongkar pasang mainan, waktu SD sdh bisa bikin mainan sendiri (replika gokart dgn motor & baterai). Waktu anak saya ultah 1 tahun, saya belikan dia LEGO system brick di WalMart, setelah itu suka lihat2 LEGO Technic di Yaohan (atrium Senen). Saya tertarik pada 8880 & membelinya waktu ada diskon. Sejak itu saya mulai membeli LEGO utk saya dan anak saya (DUPLO, Starwars, Racers, Bionicle, Technic, and Mindstorm). Anak saya suka sekali dengan design mobil, dia bisa bikin sendiri mobil yg dilihatnya di game NFS. Selain itu dia juga bikin robot2 yg ada di film animasi yg ditontonnya. Dia pindah ke yoyo (string trick) setelah SMP dan masih menekuninya sampai sekarang.
When I were a kid, I like to assemble and disassemble toys. When I was at primary school, I already can build my own toys (gokart replica with motor & battery). When my son had his 1st birthday, I bought him LEGO System brick from WalMart, after that I like to look at LEGO Technic in Yaohan (Atrium Senen). I like the set 8880 and I bought him when there is a discount. Since then I started to buy LEGO for me and my son (DUPLO, Starwars, Racers, Bionicle, Technic and Mindstorm). My son like the car designs and he can create his own car he saw in NFS game. Other than that, he also created robots from animation movie he watched. He shifted his hobby into yoyo (string trick) during Junior Highschool and he is still doing it now.
Setelah berkeluarga, bagaimana cara om membuat istri mendukung hobi LEGOnya?
(After having a family, how did you manage to get your wife to support your Hobby?)
Istri saya selalu mendukung apa yang saya lakukan utk hobi saya, karena saya melakukannya bersama anak saya dan kami sekeluarga menikmatinya juga. Kami pernah bareng2 cari set LEGO Technic yg sudah agak lama hanya utk partsnya saja di toko mainan, karena belum ada penjual yg jual parts waktu itu.
My wife always support everything I do for my hobby because I like to do it together with my son and our entire family enjoy it. We had been hunting together retired LEGO Technic set just for the parts in toy shop because parts sellers do not exist that time.
Saat anaknya masih kecil, bagaimana cara om membuat anaknya tertarik dengan LEGO?
(When your son still a kid, what did you do to make him like LEGO?)
Anak saya bikin MOC berdasarkan apa yg dilihatnya di game Need for Speed (NFS) & replika mobil2an yg dimiliki tanpa saya ajari, dia berhenti main LEGO setelah SMP dan berganti main yoyo (string tricks) sampai sekarang.
He created MOC based on what he saw in Need for Speed (NFS) games and from car replicas that we owned without needing me to teach him. He stopped playing with LEGO during junior high school and switched to playing yoyo (string tricks) until now.

Berapa lama waktu yang terpakai untuk membuat sebuah MOC?
(How long do you spend the time for creating MOC?)
Setiap MOC yang saya bikin membutuhkan waktu yang berbeda-beda, karena saya akan terus memperbaikinya sampai saya puas dengan hasilnya. Biasanya saya hanya butuh beberapa jam untuk mulai membuat bentuk kasarnya, setelah itu saya perbaiki sampai saya puas dengan hasilnya. Sebuah MOC yg dibuat dengan LEGO Technic membutuhkan banyak waktu untuk mengatur strukturnya agar kuat & ringkas, selain itu mekanisme yg diinginkan juga ikut menentukan bentuk strukturnya.
Every MOC I create needs different time to build because I keep fixing it until I am satisfied with it. I usually only need a couple of hours for the rough form, then I will keep fixint it until I am satisfied with the result. A MOC made by LEGO Technic needs a lot of time to make sure the structure is strong & simple as well as the intended mechanism will also decide the structural shape.
Apakah om punya preferensi khusus mengoleksi LEGO®? Seperti tema, set atau bentuk spesifik?
(Do you have preference when collecting LEGO®? Like specific theme, set or build?)
Saya suka koleksi LEGO Technic dalam bentuk mobil, selain itu set robotic juga menjadi pilihan untuk dibeli.
I like collecting LEGO Technic vehicles, beside that I also like to buy robotic sets.

Koleksi LEGO yang ada apa dipreteli untuk spare-parts juga?
(Do you dismantle your LEGO collection for spare-parts as well?)
Ya, saya mulai mengambil parts dari set LEGO Technic yang sudah saya buat sebelumnya. Saya punya Ferrari Fiorano yang saya bikin dari 2 set LEGO Technic warna abu tua. Selain itu set system yang saya miliki sudah saya bongkar semua karena tidak ada tempat untuk memajangnya, saya menyimpannya dalam laci2 spare parts elektronik. Saya hanya pajang MOC saya yang pernah dipilih utk dipublikasikan.
Yes, I start gathering parts from LEGO Technic sets that I have build earlier. I also have Ferrari Fiorano which I built from 2 grey coloured LEGO Technic sets. Beside that, all of my LEGO System sets that I owned have been dismantled because I have no place to display them. I displayed them on drawers to keep electronic parts. I only display MOCs that have been chosen for publications.

Saya lihat om banyak menggunakan LEGO Education pada karya om. Kenapa om banyak merakit LEGO Education yang menggunakan motor?
(I see that you use a lot of LEGO Education theme on your creations. Why did you assemble a lot of LEGO Education theme with motors?)
Saya suka dengan motor penggerak yg menggunakan batere. Motor ini dulu hanya ada di LEGO Technic & Mindstorm. Selain itu LEGO dulu hanya jual parts motor ini di LEGO DACTA (sekarang LEGO EDUCATION).
I like electric driven motor using battery. This type of motor was only available in LEGO Technic & Mindstorm initially. Beside that, LEGO only sell this motor parts in LEGO DACTA (Now become LEGO EDUCATION).

(I see you build a lot of vehicle MOCs. What is the story behind that?)
Saya suka sekali dengan kendaraan (terutama mobil), karena saya suka dengan segala sesuatu yg bisa digerakkan secara otomatis maupun dengan program. Contoh sederhana adalah sebuah mobil R/C: selain bisa digerakkan dgn remote control, sekarang bisa juga digerakkan dgn program yg dibuat di aplikasi Powered Up.
I like a lot of vehicle (especially car), because I like everything that can be moved automatically or with software program. For instance, a R/C car which can be controlled with remote control can now be controlled using software from Powered Up application.
Kalau om dapat memberikan masukan ke Perusahaan LEGO, apa yang akan om katakan?
(If you could give an input to the LEGO Group. What would you tell them?)
Kalau bisa LEGO online store nya melayani pembeli dari Indonesia (dgn ongkos kirim yg murah tentunya), sehingga penggemar LEGO di Indonesia bisa lebih mudah memperoleh produk yg diinginkan. Saat ini harga produk LEGO di Indonesia masih mahal (apalagi di official store yg sebenarnya bukan, lebih tepatnya franchise store karena saya tahu/kenal pemiliknya ALJ), potensi market produk LEGO di Indonesia sebenarnya cukup besar cuma sepertinya TLG tidak menyadarinya/tidak punya datanya.
I hope LEGO online store (LEGO S@H) can serve customer from Indonesia (along with low shipping cost), so Indonesian LEGO fans can easily get which sets they want. For now, the price of LEGO in Indonesia is quite costly (especially with the so-called official store which is untrue, I would rather called it licensed store since I know the owner is ALJ). There is a large potential for LEGO in Indonesia but it seems like TLG does not realise it/does not have enough data.

Saya sudah bagikan pengalaman saya main LEGO (hampir 12 tahun) di www.facebook.com/LegoKu888 (saya memulainya sejak 18/05/2010). Di halaman facebook LegoKu saya bagikan tehnik penggunaan parts LEGO Technic yg belum pernah dilakukan oleh LEGO (hasil temuan saya). Saya juga bagikan petunjuk/instruksi MOC secara gratis.

Om Dicky sangat tertarik dengan kendaraan dan segala sesuatu yang dapat bergerak secara otomatis. Dua hal tersebut membuatnya berfokus pada lini LEGO Technic serta LEGO Education. Hasil karya beliau juga telah beberapa kali diikutsertakan pada lomba MOC Internasional dan mendapatkan pengakuan.
Beliau memiliki sejumlah set-set awal lini Mindstorm dikarenakan beliau sangat menggemari mekanika. Telah banyak hasil karya LEGO robotik yang beliau buat dan telah mendapatkan pengakuan bahkan rancangannya dibeli oleh pengajar robotik dari Amerika Serikat. Teruslah merakit dan berkarya dengan LEGO, om!

Dicky is very interested with vehicles and anything that can move automatically. Those two things are the reason he only focused on LEGO Technic and LEGO Education themes. His creations participated in online MOC competition for few times and has received acknowledgement.
He also have the early Mindstorm sets because he likes mechanics so much. He created so many robotic MOCs that has been acclaimed and even his building instruction was bought by robotic teacher from the United States. Keep building and creating with LEGO, sir!
